Nexium

Nexium is a medicine to treat heartburn and other illnesses associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is marketed in France under the name Inexium and is manufactured in the United Kingdom by the AstraZeneca laboratory.

About Nexium

Nexium (Inexium) granules and tablets contain a proton pump inhibitor; esomeprazole. This active substance helps reduce the level of acid produced by the stomach. Thus, the drug Inexium relieves the symptoms caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease, such as heartburn and acid reflux. The tablets are swallowed with water while the granules dissolve directly in water, before swallowing them.

  1. Available as granules and tablets
  2. Effective against heartburn
  3. Frequently prescribed treatment

Heartburn is one of the most common symptoms experienced by patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). More precisely, this reflux can be described as the unpleasant sensation felt in the chest and resulting from the rise towards the esophagus of the natural acids found in the stomach. This same acid can also reach the throat causing a sour, burning sensation also known as acid reflux. Heart disease can also occasionally cause pain similar to heartburn.

(Occasionally, heartburn in the chest can also be a sign of heart disease. It is therefore important to see a doctor as soon as possible if you are experiencing these symptoms for the first time or if they are more painful. than usual.)

Gastroesophageal reflux disease results from the relaxation of the ring of muscles between the esophagus and the stomach and causing acid to rise up in the throat. A number of circumstances favor the onset of heartburn, such as smoking, excessive consumption of fat, alcohol or coffee, and being overweight. These gastric symptoms can also be caused by stress, pregnancy or if your family circle is also concerned.

People with heartburn usually need to make some lifestyle changes to reduce the severity of symptoms. Thus, it is recommended to follow a balanced diet, exercise regularly, stop smoking or even sleep with your head up. However, if symptoms persist despite these preventative measures and over-the-counter treatments are not effective, your doctor may decide to prescribe prescription medication.

Inexium contains esomeprazole as an active agent, which belongs to the drug category of proton pump inhibitors. The proton pumps are positioned on the lining of the stomach and this is what allows the production of digestive acid. Esomeprazole reduces the amount of acid produced by the body and therefore prevents gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Inexium (Nexium) is also prescribed to treat diseases related to the production of acid in the stomach, including the prevention and treatment of ulcers for patients who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for long term and patients with ulcers in the digestive tract and caused by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
